Missionaries France

John Mark & Judy Hatcher

France is quite possibly the largest unreached western nation. Although it once had a strong Protestant witness in the sixteenth century, France is now known for rejecting Biblical truths and worshipping pleasure instead. The country has a population of nearly 66 million and is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. The official language is French and the currency is the Euro (0.73 EUR = $1 US).

France is the second most atheistic country in Europe, topped only by the Czech Republic. It is the fourth most atheistic country in the world.

  • People claiming to be Catholics:
    1980 - 70%
    2008 - 42%

  • People claiming to adhere to other religions (Judaism, Protestantism, Islam, Orthodox, Buddhism):
    1980 - 3%
    2008 - 8%

  • People claiming to be atheist or without religion:
    1980 - 27%
    2008 - 50%

Pray that the eyes of understanding of the people of France would be enlightened to the glorious hope of Christ.

Louez l'Éternel, invoquez son nom! Faites connaître parmi les peuples ses hauts faits!
Psaumes 105:1

-Statistics according to a 2008 poll
-A Washington Post poll results map from May 2013 shows France having 30-39% convinced atheist (view here).
