Dear Friends

As I begin these lines my imagination transports me to the Thompson Road Baptist Church where at this time everyone has been fed well and it is time for the singing and special music to begin.  For you who were privileged to attend we hope your hearts were warmed to overflowing and that your missionary zeal has been doubled.

Alta and I are feeling our age and the limitations that advanced years bring but we are still in love with Jesus, each other and the Gospel that transforms sinners into children of God.  Alta prepares lessons every week for Sunday School teachers, teaches Carol and Marcio piano once a week, and has play time for neighbor children every Wednesday afternoon.  She does the cooking and the cleaning, the washing and entertains a steady stream of visitors.

In February I began Seminary classes here in Urai two nights a week.  In Sussumu and Rancho Alegre, in addition to our weekly services we have also started a Sunday School in each place.

OTHER CHURCHES AND MISSION POINTS GOING WELL

There are eight other works spread over six cities.  God has especially blessed the work in the city of Leopolis where we had already built a large building.  Lucas and Josie, his wife, and their three small children have been sent there to care for the mission.  They are members of the church in Cornelio and supported in part by that Church.  They are reaching couples and the number in attendance has grown.  God has provided them a house, a car and hearts full of joy.

The new building in Congoinhas should be going up soon.  The lot is purchased and paid for, the building plans have been drawn and approved.

Alta and I will have our 80th birthdays this year.  Mine April 30, Alta's September 14.  God has blessed us beyond imagination.  A family of treasures from Heaven.  Joys that never cease and the blessing of bringing the lost to Jesus.

Mothers and Dads, for what purpose are you rearing your children?  God so loved the world that He gave His Son to die for sinners; why not train our children to realize there are greater joys than the winning of basketball and football tournaments?  How about teaching them about the joy of bringing men and women, boys and girls to Jesus?  To live for Him who died for us?

God bless you.
