Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It just dawned on me as I began typing this that it is Labor Day back in the U.S. The thought of "labor" brought to mind the words of Christ, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." We are encouraged by the truth that God is always at His work. We are thrilled to be on the front line here in France.
The Lord has continued to bring in people. Attendance at Sunday worship and Sunday school has been excellent despite the fact that it is summer. Sometimes it seems that the house is full and running over on Sundays.
Amelia, who has been a believer since March of last year, gave birth to a fine baby boy last week. So, the ranks of children continue to grow. She is going to begin hosting a new Bible study in her neighborhood. This will be a ladies Bible study led by Judy and Amanda. We are also praying that her husband and children will be saved. Philip and Amanda are also going to be starting a new Bible study in the home of a couple who began attending this summer. Angela, the wife, met Amanda in a children's play group. As we mentioned last month, she has been saved within the last couple of years. Her husband has not yet made a profession of faith but participates with great interest and is very keen on the Bible study that they will soon be hosting.
When we get back up of speed this month we should be having 6 Bible studies during the week in addition to Sunday services. As many of you know, this is our primary means of outreach. When people show and interest in spiritual things we invite them to study the Bible with us. We simply read and discuss a chapter each week. Typically, we start with the Gospel of John. We just let the Holy Spirit use His Word to impart faith. Many people have come to know the Lord this way. When people trust the Lord we just continue studying the Bible and this becomes the means of helping them grow in the Lord.
Praying for God to enable us to build relationships and give us opportunities to display Christ in actions and words is at the heart of the way we work. These contacts and relationships open doors for us to invite people to study the Bible.
We are amazed at what God has already done here and continues to do. You are an important part of this work. Thanks for your regular prayers and support. Keep your eyes open for what God is doing around you. Be a missionary where you are as the Lord opens the doors.
Looking for the harvest in France,
John and Judy
