Dear praying friends,
Another month has come and passed so quickly, and there are many important items to update you about in this prayer letter.
My wife and I thank the Lord for good health, strength, and the daily provision that God provides for us. This update will give the current information about the ministry here in Kitale and also list items to be praying about in the future.
This past month, we were so blessed to have a team of nine visit us from Emmanuel Baptist Church located in Bellbrook, Ohio. This is the Church that I attended while at Cedarville University, so I knew our visitors well from past fellowship together. I truly believe that this trip was life-changing for them and that the team truly understood ministry in a cross-cultural context. The visit included many things, such as visiting a school in Kitale, attending Bible clubs for the youth, attending the prison ministry, teaching Sunday School, preaching in the Sunday morning service, etc. We truly appreciate these visitors and know that they were truly touched by God during this trip. Visitors are always a blessing to us, and I believe they blessed us more than we blessed them. It is always special to have visitors who you know and love to come and see the works that God is doing all over the world, and we appreciate these visitors who are mindful of God's "harvest field" all over the world. (Matthew 9:37,38)
The Lord used the visitors to answer a prayer that I had been praying about for some time in the prison ministry. One of my main goals in the prison has been to get a Bible to every ward, or section, of the prison. There are 23 wards in Kitale Main Prison, as it is very large, and my desire was to get a Bible to every ward so that each ward could get a copy of the Word of God and continue in their knowledge of Scripture. Previously, I taught a leadership class from America aimed at building a leader from the various wards, or the idea of multiplication. (2 Timothy 2:2) My goal is for the work to expand and multiply, as I believe this is taught in Scripture repeatedly. The visitors donated the financial assistance that was necessary to buy the 23 Bibles, so the Lord is continuing to show us that He will provide for us in response to prayer and seeking His will. (Psalms 32:8) We praise the Lord for this answer to prayer and look forward to seeing the fruit that comes as a result of the generosity of our visitors. I will be sure to keep you updated on this progress.
Please pray for us, as there are so many items to accomplish and such little time. The time is short, and we are to "redeem the time, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:16) May we each use our time wisely, as our lives pass so quickly and only what is done for the Lord will last. May we ever be mindful of the words, "Only one life will soon be past, only what is done for Christ will last."
God bless you and thank you for your interest in the ministry in Kitale, Kenya. Please pray for my wife and I for financial provision, good health, and effectiveness in our ministries here in Kenya. God bless you and we will update you next month.
