Dear praying friends,
Another month has come and gone and there are many things to give you an update about. This letter will discuss current needs, the work in Africa during my absence, and also prayer requests.
Thank you so much for those who have prayed about the team that went to Kenya for the past ten days. This team was composed of ten people from four different churches. Their main ministry was to go and to assist with constructing a church building for my parents. Not only did they do this successfully, but they were also able to visit and see many of the ministries that are currently in process. They were able to go to the prison ministry and give each prisoner some toiletries and a copy of the gospel of John and Romans in Swahili. This was a large project as there are around 1,000 men prisoners. I am confident that lives were changed during this trip and that those who went will forever be changed as a result of it. Please pray that God would call even more workers to His harvest in Kenya because of this wonderful experience.
I have been very busy contacting churches and also having meetings with individuals. This has been a time of trusting the Lord like no other time in my life. My support needs for my wife and I are $2,500 per month. This is for ministry expenses as there are many, possible children, ministry supplies, insurance expenses, car expenses, and other expenses as they occur. These are certainly needs and not wants. We are presently at 63% of our support and we are earnestly praying that we would have our full support by April of next year. Please pray considering your role in this work and how God would use you to further His ministry in Kitale, Kenya. If you would like to support this work, please begin sending in your support to the address listed at the bottom of the prayer letter. The checks would need to be addressed to "Nathan Radford" so that there is no confusion with accounts between missionaries.
We are taking a year-long furlough not only because of support-raising, but also for the marital adjustments that will need to take place, as the first year of marriage is a major adjustment. Please pray for both of us as we approach this exciting time in our lives. One verse I have claimed is 2 Timothy 2:13 which says "If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself." What a tremendous verse from the Word of God.
In closing, there are several prayer requests. First, please pray for the many ministries continuing in my absence. I am getting great reports about the prison ministry, as the Kenyan I left in charge has already trained 40 other prisoners through Walk through the Bible. Praise the Lord! I am happy for this report. This man has been so faithful and I am blessed to be working with him. Please also pray for the other ministries, namely the evangelism and discipleship ministry, and also the Bible school. Please also pray for Carrie, as she has started a new job in Pennsylvania which is close to her family. This will allow her adjustment time with her family before leaving for the field next year, Lord willing. This is a very important time for her, so please pray for her. Also, please pray as she is preparing for our wedding in October.
Please also pray that God would burden others to support this work in Kenya. It is God's work, not mine, and He must burden those who would want to become a part of it. Please pray that I would have more faith as well and learn to be patient at times. Also, please pray for some other financial responsibilities that we have other than support. We are trusting God to meet these needs as well, and if you or your church would be interested in assisting with these needs, please contact me by e-mail. God bless you and thank you so much for your interest in Kitale, Kenya.
Serving Stateside,
Nathan
