Dear loved ones,

PRAISE: Anita is having a good week at this time after having received her fourth (of six) chemo treatments two weeks ago on Friday the 30th of May. The week immediately after the treatment is always the hardest; severe fatigue and other side effects. But this week she is feeling much better and able to get out some!! We thank everyone for the encouraging cards, phone calls and e-mails letting us know that you continue to pray for Anita.

PRAYER: While seeing the doctor last time he informed us that her tumor count has gone up. So another round of tests (MRI, bone scan, etc.) have been ordered for the 16th of June. These should determine if the cancer has spread to any other parts of her body. Please be in prayer for her/us concerning the outcome of these tests.

PRAISE: I finally graduated from Luther Rice Seminary with a Masters degree in counseling the 16th of May. It took me six years to do this! I was feeling a little embarrassed for having taken so long, until I met several others there that had taken longer than me; one guy that graduated had started in 1985!

PRAISE: Reports from the works in Peru are encouraging. Brother Roosevelt Hermitaño from Tingo Maria sent a very good report of twenty-six being saved during Vacation Bible school in Quezada and a few others trusting Christ as Savior in Cayumba Grande. These works are located in the high jungle about 2.5 hours from Huanuco. David Olortegui and Hugo Cotrina had good reports from their works.

PRAISE: Last month I presented a need for a motorcycle for Peruvian missionary, Miguel Gargate; that need has been met by a dear Brother in Christ that I had the joy of pastoring years ago in Florida. Miguel will be using the motorcycle to reach three of his mission works deeper into the interior of the jungle away from Tingo Maria.

PRAISE: The Statesville Bible Institute of Statesville, North Carolina, has donated funds sufficient to help the Grace Baptist Church in Huánuco get their building under roof! We helped this church purchase their property last year and now funds have come in to help them build! Praise the Lord!

PRAYER: I will be traveling to Peru for a few weeks in July and August to take care of business there. Anita and I had originally planned our furlough from the end of January until the middle of July. She will have finished her last chemo treatment and be resting up for her mastectomy before I leave. I will be with her during her “rough week” before leaving for Peru and then return before the operation. Pray for a safe trip for me and protection for Anita while I am gone.

PRAYER: When we left Peru to come home on furlough the end of January financial arrangements had been taken care of until the end of June. I need to go back and make new arrangements and also help get two new building projects underway. There is a need for help with my travel expenses if anyone would feels led to help with this. Please pray that the trip will be fruitful and the cost of travel expenses will be met. Thanks!
